I once knew a guy that worked


~35yrs in the insurance industry. He invested in their stock program (something like a 15% discount) very heavily. It was almost all of his retirement savings. Insurance typically runs like a dividend (rather than appreciation) stock, so he thought this wise. It wasn't.

He retired. That month he retired the stock was around $45 or so. Within 6 months it was down to $12.
